How to unmask a No Caller ID call (in the UK)
Updated over a week ago

If you’re here, you’re probably looking for a reliable and quality app to identify private calls on your iPhone or Android device.

Identifying a Private Call

So, how do you identify a private call? Why is it useful? When does it work, and when does it not? The field of identifying private calls is complex, and in recent years, many services have emerged, some good and some less so. MaskOff is currently the leading app in the world for identifying private calls. We operate in the US, UK and more.

What is a Private Call?

A private call is an incoming call where the caller ID (the phone number) does not appear on the phone’s screen. It will appear in the call log with the text "private call," "unknown call," "unknown number," "private number," etc. The name that appears on the screen varies based on the cellular company’s settings; some may call it an unknown call, private call, hidden number, etc.

Is There a Difference Between a Private Call and an Unknown Call?

As you may have understood, there is no real difference between a private call and an unknown call. They all come from a hidden or blocked number, and the difference is merely a naming difference.

Who Calls from a Private Number? Who Uses It?

Usually, a private call comes from someone who doesn’t want you to know their identity. Based on our experience with users, private calls often come from unwanted sources, mainly from harassers, spam marketing companies, ex-partners who continue to harass, criminal elements, and more.

Step 2: Register for the App

After clicking "Sign Up," a registration screen will open where you will enter the phone number to which you will receive the private call and your cellular company.

Currently, the app supports all cellular companies except Voxi, Lebara, Lycamobile and Virgin - because they do not support call forwarding of private calls

Step 3: Choose a Private Identification Package

Each package comes with a 3-day free trial – you can cancel the package anytime, even before the 3 days are up, so you can test and see that everything works properly and the app identifies private numbers.

Step 4: Enable Call Forwarding

After registration, you will need to enable call forwarding on busy.

The system will forward any private call you receive when you reject the call – essentially, any private call you receive and reject will be forwarded to us – we will identify the private number and return it to you.

For iPhone:

Enable call forwarding for iPhone

  • Click "Enable Forwarding"

  • A small popup will appear to call the number – click it (this is the forwarding code – a shortcut to enable call forwarding on busy).

Success Message

If you receive a message like "Call forwarding has been successfully set up when busy" – continue – your device supports call forwarding!

Failed Message:

If you receive a failed message like this:

Solution (Disable Wifi Calling):

Please go to your iPhone Settings -> click Phone -> than turn OFF the WiFi Calling.

Than try again re forward.

If you still get again a failed message this means your carrier isn't giving you permission to change your Conditional Call Forwarding from your device. To resolve this, you will need to contact your carrier directly to enable Conditional Call Forwarding.

For Android:

Enable call forwarding for Android

  • Click "Enable Forwarding"

  • Give the app permission to perform the forwarding automatically.

If you receive a message like "Call forwarding has been successfully set up" – continue – your device supports call forwarding!

If you receive a failed message, please contact our customer service for a solution (available on WhatsApp).

Congratulations, you’re done! 🎉🎊🎉🎊
